EU is ready to assist in the development of confidence-building measures between Baku and Yerevan

The European Union is ready to assist in the development of confidence-building measures between Azerbaijan and Armenia in the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Toivo Klaar stated this at a meeting in Baku with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.

“Special Representative Toivo Klaar noted that the EU, as before, is ready to implement measures to establish confidence between the parties”, – the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

According to the Foreign Ministry, the European diplomat also stressed the importance of conducting substantive negotiations on a peaceful settlement of the conflict without putting forward any preconditions.

In turn, the head of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry stressed that the moment must ripen to establish confidence-building measures.
