Two civilians, including a child, were injured by open fire from the Indian side, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said.
The Pakistani Foreign Ministry protested to a high-ranking Indian diplomat over the recent violation of the ceasefire agreement on the control line (de facto border) in the disputed Kashmir region. The message was circulated by the Pakistani Foreign Ministry on Friday.
“A high-ranking Indian diplomat was summoned to the Foreign Ministry, where he was strongly protested against the ceasefire violation by Indian forces along the line of control on the night of 24 September,” the ministry press release said. It also states that two civilians, including a child, were injured as a result of the open fire from the Indian side.
According to the Pakistani Foreign Ministry, India has violated the ceasefire agreement 2,340 times this year alone, killing 18 people and seriously injuring 187 civilians.
Relations between India and Pakistan deteriorated after New Delhi announced its decision on 5 August 2019 to abolish the state of Jammu and Kashmir and create two allied territories in the region – administrative units with less rights than the state. To this end, the Indian Parliament approved the abolition of Article 370 of the Constitution, which gave the state a special status.
Islamabad condemned this decision and refused to recognize it as India’s internal affairs. In protest against the abolition of Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan lowered diplomatic relations with India and expelled its ambassador.
