Earlier, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that it is planned to abolish the fundamental EU agreement on migration – the Dublin system.
According to TASS, presenting the new EU migration strategy, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that the European Commission proposed to revise the existing EU migration system in order to ensure a fuller participation of all countries of the community in the resettlement of migrants.
“Migration has always been and will remain a factor of life in Europe. However, the world is changing and the old systems no longer work. The European Commission has proposed a new migration strategy that will ensure a fair balance between responsibility and solidarity”, – she said.
Migration pressures differ at our borders, so we must find a new equilibrium in the distribution of the burden. Now the question is no longer whether the EU countries should show solidarity, the only question is how they will do it. We need a new, sustainable migration solution that will allow us to remain true to our values and meet the conditions of a new, changed world.
The European Commission has also proposed to tighten controls at the EU’s borders and to simplify the return of migrants who have no grounds for asylum.
