Lukashenko told about strength of Belarusian authorities

Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko said at the inauguration that social policy will remain the country’s calling card under any conditions.

Earlier on Wednesday, Sputnik Belarus announced that Lukashenko, who was elected president, had assumed this post, and the head of the Central Election Commission of the republic, Lidia Yermoshina, presented him with a certificate.

“The strength of the Belarusian government, the guarantee of confidence in it lies in the fact that even in the most difficult times we did not abandon our social policy, from a socially oriented state. The support of pensioners, large families, socially vulnerable strata of society will remain a visiting card of the Belarusian path under any circumstances and in any conditions”, – the president said. His words are quoted by Sputnik Belarus.

Presidential elections were held in Belarus on August 9, in which, according to the Central Election Commission, Lukashenko won with 80.1% of the vote. According to the law, the inauguration of the president-elect should take place within two months from the date of the elections, RIA Novosti told the Central Election Commission of the republic earlier.

At the same time, the opposition does not agree with the election results and is holding protest actions. They continue to this day. In the first days, the actions were suppressed by the security forces; against the protesters who did not agree with the results, they used tear gas, flash-noise grenades, water cannons, rubber bullets. According to official data, over 6.7 thousand people were detained in the first days. As the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic reported at the time, hundreds of people were injured during the riots, among them over 130 law enforcement officers.

The authorities have officially confirmed the deaths of three protesters. At the same time, Lukashenko’s supporters are also holding rallies in his support.
