US President Donald Trump is not sure that Ukraine will pay for the supplies of American Javelin (“Javelin”) anti-tank missile systems. The American leader confessed to this in his speech at an election rally in Dayton, Ohio, on Monday.
“We are transferring anti-tank missiles to Ukraine. We sell them – in theory. I do not know if we will ever [for them] get money. We are selling them”, – said Trump. In his view, the previous US administration, led by Democrat Barack Obama, supplied Kiev with only ‘pillows’, not weapons. – “While Obama was sending pillows to Ukraine, I sent anti-tank missiles”, – said the current head of the US administration.
In addition, he expressed the view that the leaders of the United States and Russia are getting along, despite all the problems in bilateral relations between Moscow and Washington.
“But at the same time we get along. I like [Russian President Vladimir] Putin, he likes me, we get along” , – Trump said. “Aren’t you going to say that getting along is smart? – At the same time, the President of the USA asked the supporters who came to the rally.”
Trump also once again criticized Germany for what he believed were insufficient military allocations within NATO and support for the Nord Stream-2 project.
“We are defending Germany. <…> They do not pay [to the NATO budget] what they have to pay, they have debts”, – the American leader believes.
“I told [the Chancellor of Germany] Angela [Merkel], and I like Angela, she is smart <…>: we protect you from Russia, and you pay billions of dollars [for natural gas supplies] to Russia. How so? Explain it to me”, – Trump said.
Further commenting on the US military developments, he made a mistake calling hypersonic missiles “hydrosonic”. “We have weapons like these that have never been seen before. <…> No one has such weapons: neither China, nor Russia, nor anyone,” Trump said. In his words, these are ‘super-duper missiles’.
“These are hydrosonic [rockets]. I call them ‘super-duper’ because it is easier for people to understand than hydrosonic missiles,” said the President.
Finally, he gave an unpleasant assessment to his former National Security Assistant, John Bolton. Trump referred to him as “idiot John Bolton”. “If I had listened to this idiot, we would be in World War Five right now, , – Trump believes. In this regard, the President of the United States reproduced what he called the Bolton report: “Sir, we saw some movement in China. I think that we should fight them. And let us deal with Russia at the same time. And let’s also go to North Korea”.
