The Pentagon will continue to implement its plans to increase the combat strength of the US naval forces from the current 293 ships to 355, said Defense Minister Mark Esper.
According to him, this measure will be able to ensure “American military superiority in the world’s oceans.”
The combat strength of the American naval forces will increase, first of all, through the creation of new guided surface and submarine ships with increased fire capabilities, as well as unmanned combat units capable of operating in conditions of intensive military operations.
If the congressmen consider the presented financial justification satisfactory, then tens of billions of dollars will be allocated from the country’s budget for the modernization of ships.
