Total quarantine forced Israelis back into protest

On Saturday evening, 12 September, protests against the government led by Binyamin Netanyahu took place in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Caesarea.

The largest was a demonstration near the Prime Minister’s residence, which was attended by around 10,000 people.

There were calls for Netanyahu’s resignation, reproaches for the lack of a well-thought-out programme to combat the Coronavirus epidemic, and calls for total quarantine to be avoided. The demonstration in Tel Aviv was joined by the head of the opposition, Yair Lapid.
