NATO exercises started in Lithuania

About 950 soldiers from Lithuania, Estonia, Italy, the USA, Latvia, Poland, France, Slovakia and Hungary will take part in the manoeuvres. The exercise will last until 25 September and will take place in Šiauliai, Kaunas and Vilnius counties.

According to Sputnik Lithuania, the international air defence exercise “Tobruk Heritage 2020” has started in Lithuania, with around 950 soldiers from various EU member states participating.

“The main objective of the exercise “Tobruk Legacy 2020″ is to train Lithuanian and allied units to ensure interoperability and tactical procedures for NATO ground defence units and to improve air space management and control,” the Defence Ministry said.

During the exercise, international air defence units will be integrated into a common command and control system in order to practise combat operations against air targets.
