Cyprus calls Turkish artillery drills illegal in Eastern Mediterranean

Cyprus has declared the illegality of the exercises, which Turkey intends to conduct from 12 to 14 September in the Eastern Mediterranean.

On Friday, September 11, Turkey announced plans to conduct an artillery exercise in the Mediterranean Sea northwest of Cyprus.
Shipmasters are advised to exercise caution in this regard.

The Joint Rescue Coordination Center of Cyprus noted that the warning of the Turkish side “is illegal and constitutes a violation of the territorial integrity of the Republic of Cyprus, international law and security measures at sea”.
