London did not even try to work on a deal with the EU – the correspondence of officials was published in the media

Brussels’ confidence in British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is dwindling as the final round of negotiations on a Brexit deal draws near.

The publication “The Guardian” writes about this, referring to the correspondence of European officials, which was at the disposal of journalists.

According to letters sent from Brussels to EU capitals over the past few days, it is clear that Johnson is suspected of deliberately sabotaging the negotiations. It is argued that until the last moment he refrained from seeking a compromise on key unresolved issues.

“These issues will not be easy to resolve through a telephone conversation between the leaders”, – a spokesman for the Brussels Brexit team told European diplomats.

“It’s too late”.

At the same time, the European Commission fears that London will try to bypass Brussels by starting negotiations with representatives of the five largest EU countries at a meeting in London on September 22. In this regard, Brussels insistently demands not to agree to the British proposals.

“We must clearly understand that nothing can be resolved in those areas that are the subject of negotiations”, – the correspondence says.

Finally, the European Commission is confident that it is official London that is behind the intense anti-European propaganda in the British press. The media accuse Brussels of intransigence just before the last round of negotiations.
