Bloomberg made a disappointing forecast for the global economic recovery after the pandemic

According to experts, the damage caused to the global economy could reach $35 trillion by 2025.

According to TASS, experts interviewed by Bloomberg journalists expressed the opinion that the world economy is recovering from the damage caused by the coronavirus pandemic, but this process may slow down due to a number of factors.

Among the reasons indicated in the material are the possibility of a new outbreak of infection in the winter before the completion of the vaccine development process, the premature completion of programs to support the economy, as well as the potential increase in tensions between Washington and Beijing ahead of the US presidential election.

According to the calculations of the expert Warwick McKibbin from the Brookings Institution and the Australian National University, the total damage caused by the pandemic to the global economy could reach $35 trillion by 2025. Even after the development of a vaccine against coronavirus, it will take time for its distribution, the analyst notes.

“Before the economic damage begins to decrease, a significant portion of the population needs to be vaccinated”, – McKibbin said.
