Trump said he preferred medical examination to the problem of trade deal with China

Earlier, the U.S. president noted that the importance of bilateral trade deal with China has decreased against the backdrop of the pandemic.

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday that he preferred to have a medical examination instead of “see China” and engage in trade “deal with China.”

“Sir, would you like to go to the [Walter Reed Military Medical Center] and have a physical examination? You have some [free] time”. Do you know why I had time? Some kind of deal. Oh, it was China. I decided not to see China, because I do not like the way they do business with us. It makes sense. <…> We went [to the military medical center]”, –  the president told his supporters in Pennsylvania.

Trump didn’t explain what kind of issues he was supposed to be dealing with under a trade agreement with Beijing that day.

As the President said on July 23, the importance of the bilateral trade deal with China has decreased against the backdrop of the Coronavirus pandemic. At the same time, he admitted that China had started buying American agricultural products “in record volumes”.
