Reminiscent of the fall of the Weimar Republic – the way the riots will affect the upcoming US elections

For several months, pogroms have not abated in American cities, increasingly accompanied by armed clashes and casualties. People are tired of the constant violence, which is not the best factor for Democrats who have previously supported the protests.

This is written in “The Guardian” edition.

The media notes that the current surge in violence should be viewed in a historical context. From the late 1950s to the early 1990s, when crime was on the rise, conservative Republicans like Richard Nixon profited politically from people’s fear of crime. Violence peaked in 1991. The figures then were about twice as high as they are now. There is no consensus on the reasons for its further decline.

Bill Clinton and Joe Biden at that time pushed the Democratic Party away from the centrist principle. Biden’s 1994 Crime Bill provided prisons with an impressive influx of prisoners, most of them black.

Although crime has been declining for nearly three decades, this has changed with the onset of the pandemic. In New York alone, in June, the number of shooting incidents increased by 130% compared to the previous year, in July – by 177%.

With Democrats now running the epicenter cities of unrest, credibility is dwindling. They simply demonstrate an inability to fulfill their primary duty – to protect the lives and property of citizens.

“The crimes have destroyed the sympathy and solidarity on which liberalism depends, especially in riot-torn urban areas”, – writes The Guardian.

“The exodus of white working-class voters from the Democratic Party accelerated as the progressives abandoned their fears of crime”.

Meanwhile, the riots were accompanied by the destruction of police stations, courthouses and other government agencies. The far-right Patriot Prayer and the Proud Boys came up against the radical left extremists from Black Lives Matter. In Kenosha, 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse shot two BLM members who were trying to attack him. A few days later, a column of Rightists in Portland marched through downtown and fired on the Left.

“The rise in street clashes between armed political groups irresistibly brings to mind similar conflicts that led to the fall of the Weimar Republic”, – the article says.

“Street riots coincided with an upsurge in violent crime, with outbreaks of robbery and arson, with non-violent demonstrations against police brutality. Voters’ interpretation of why this apparent disturbance of public order occurred and who is to blame may well determine the outcome of this year’s elections”.

Donald Trump’s administration flunked the coronavirus test, but now it doesn’t matter for his re-election, since the megacities, where crime is growing, are run by Democrats. Voters are increasingly convinced that the Democratic Party cannot be trusted. Attitudes towards her are deteriorating along with the rapid decline in popularity of Black Lives Matter.
