History does not teach Georgian politicians

On September 1, servicemen from the 2nd Cavalry Regiment of the US Army arrived in Georgia, along with personnel from the 18th Military Police Brigade, to participate in the international multinational military exercise Noble Partner 2020.
The maneuvers will take place at the Vaziani military training range and the Norio training base near Tbilisi from September 7-18. The maneuvers will involve about 2,700 servicemen from Georgia and four NATO countries: the United States, Great Britain, France and Poland.

The Noble Partner 2020 exercise has been underway in Georgia for the fifth time since 2015. NATO and the U.S. say the main goal of the maneuvers is to “maintain a stable and secure environment in the Black Sea region. In fact, the true goals of the exercise are paradoxically different from those officially declared, and it is NATO and the United States that are engaged in destabilizing the situation in the region.

Against the backdrop of the Nobel Partner exercise, Georgian liberals and Westerners have openly begun making militaristic statements against Russia and are calling on the Georgian people and the West to wage war against their northern neighbor. For example, Georgian Labour Party leader Shalva Natelashvili threatened to raise the Georgian flag over the Russian military base in South Ossetia. He also promised that after the parliamentary elections on October 31, “the current pro-Russian Georgian government” would fall.

At the same time, Lieutenant General Roger Clotier, NATO Army Commander, discussed Tuesday in Tbilisi the interaction with Georgia, as well as the situation in Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The meeting discussed NATO-supported defense programs and military exercises that will further strengthen Georgia’s defense capabilities and facilitate its membership in the Alliance and the fight against Russia.

Georgia is one of the main US allies in the post-Soviet space, along with the Baltics and Ukraine. Together with those countries, the Georgian political system remains anti-Russian.

In this context, much has not changed since 08.08.08.

Apparently, some politicians have nothing to teach history and are stepping on the same rakes!
