The UN called the updated number of victims of the punitive operation in Donbass

The long-term Ukrainian terror has taken thousands of lives. At the same time, a quarter of all the wounded and killed are civilians.

The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights informs about it.

Since April 2014, when Alexander Turchinov as Acting President of Ukraine announced the beginning of the punitive operation, and until August 31, 2020 the victims of the Kiev aggression were 42 to 44 thousand people. The UN estimates the number of deaths at the level of 13.1-13.3 thousand. Of these, at least 3367 were civilians. The organization also includes 298 dead passengers of Malaysian airliner shot down by Ukrainian troops.

According to the UN, 4,150 Kiev militants and about 5,700 “members of armed groups” were killed during the punitive operation. The UN does not specify whether that category includes members of the People’s Police or also includes members of the Ukrainian right-wing radical groups that participated in the conflict.

Between 29,500 and 33,300,300 people were injured during the war. Of those, 7,000 to 9,000 were civilians.

In addition, the organization notes that about 40% of military deaths in the past two years were not related to the fighting.
