The Cabinet of Ministers of Lithuania approved a plan to allocate 100 scholarships for students from Belarus to study in Lithuanian universities and plans to allocate € 100 thousand from the state budget for “humanitarian aid”.
According to TASS, Prime Minister Saulius Skvernyalis told reporters that the Lithuanian Cabinet of Ministers approved on Wednesday at its meeting the so-called plan to help the Belarusian opposition.
“Today we have approved a plan of assistance to people of Belarus, who for several weeks have been expressing disagreement with the unfair election results and have been subjected to gross violence for this”, – he said. – “This is the first, but not the last step of assistance from our government.”
The plan provides 100 scholarships for students from Belarus to study in Lithuanian universities, €100 thousand from the state budget is allocated for “humanitarian aid”. €200 thousand is allocated to the European Humanities University working in Vilnius, a private higher school established in Minsk in 1992, which was suspended by the Belarusian authorities a few years later. The Cabinet of Ministers also approved the simplification of issuing national visas of Lithuania to citizens of Belarus.
In fact, we are talking about injecting money into student protests, through funding, under the guise of humanitarian purposes.
