On September 4, President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic will meet in Washington with the so-called prime minister of the Kosovo region Avdulla Hoti.
In an interview with Eurasia.Expert, former ambassador of Serbia to Belarus Srechko Djukic told about the prospects of U.S. “peacekeeping” efforts.
“It must be said that this is the first meeting of this format, which will be held in the White House. The meeting will be held under the auspices of special representative of President Trump, Thomas Grennell, who now heads the National Security Service. He used to be the US ambassador to Germany. Grennel is still coordinating and developing with Belgrade and Pristina the economic component of relations between Serbia and Kosovo”, – the diplomat said.- “The expectations of Serbian society are not very high. There are experts who believe there will be a breakthrough in resolving the Kosovo issue. But most of society believes nothing radical will happen there. The approaches of Belgrade and Pristina are completely polarized. Pristina insists on its maximum goal – to achieve independence and membership in the UN. Belgrade denies this possibility.”
