The US is forming a new bilateral economic dialogue with Taiwan.
According to Interfax-Ukraine, David Stilwell, Assistant Secretary of State for East Asia, speaking at an online forum organized by the Heritage Foundation, said that the new dialogue is not a departure from Washington’s recognition of the existence of “one China,” but represents only part of the “significant adjustments” in relations with Beijing and Taipei.
“We will continue to help Taipei confront the Communist Party of China’s campaign of pressure, intimidation and marginalization of Taiwan”, – Stilwell said.
Observers see this step as strengthening support for Taiwan amid growing pressure on the Taiwanese regime from Beijing.
