Berlin police have arrested several hundred people at protests against coronavirus restrictions.
This was reported by Deutsche Welle, referring to the Senator for Internal Affairs of the German capital Andreas Geisel.
About 300 people were detained. Most of the arrests took place at the Russian embassy. There gathered about 3 thousand supporters of the right-wing radical movements.
The police explained on Twitter that the protesters threw bottles, released other detainees and committed “other crimes”.
Initially, the action was peaceful, but then clashes broke out in several places. A group of demonstrators tried to break into the Reichstag. On the steps of the building, the police used gas cans and pushed the protesters back.
