When European countries contributed to the coup d’etat in Ukraine, they created an unnecessary problem for themselves. Belarus should not become another one.
Such a statement on Friday, August 28, was made by the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, speaking at a press conference following an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers.
“Belarus should not become a geopolitical problem, it should not become a“ second Ukraine, ”the diplomat emphasizes.
Once the Ukrainians were forced to choose between Russia and the West. Such a policy led to a split in society and even a long-term armed conflict. In this regard, Borrell urges not to put Belarusians in front of the same choice.
“The Belarusian people should not decide who they want to be closer to – Russia or the European Union,” he said.
