Russia and China are designing a new generation non-nuclear submarine. On the air of Sputnik radio experts told what gives each party participation in such a project.

Russia and China are jointly designing a new generation non-nuclear submarine, an official representative of the Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) told RIA Novosti during the Army-2020 forum.
“At present we are cooperating with the Chinese side on the issue of joint design of a new generation non-nuclear submarine. It’s too early to talk about the completion date”, – the FSMTC said.
Earlier Viktor Kladov, head of the Rostekh delegation at Airshow China 2018, said that Russia had signed a contract for the supply of weapons to China in three areas: water, air and land.
Konstantin Sivkov, the captain of the 1st reserve rank, Deputy President of the Russian Academy of Sciences on information policy, told on the air of Sputnik radio what, in his opinion, each of the parties expects from joint work.
“I think that China is interested in getting Russian technologies to ensure low noise. Today only two countries in the world – Russia and the USA – possess such technologies. In turn, our interest is to ensure that with limited funding and limited production capacity, we can get additional resources for joint work. This is a mutual interest”, – believes Konstantin Sivkov.
Professor of St. Petersburg State University Vladimir Kolotov, in his turn, noted that the very fact of such cooperation shows an unprecedented level of trust between Russia and China.
“Such projects – development of promising weapons – can be implemented only between countries with an extremely high level of mutual trust and very low probability of possible conflicts. Only in this case the management goes for implementation of joint projects of this kind. Each country invests in this project the resource in which it has an advantage. Of course, submarines in today’s world are a very serious foreign policy and defense factor that can keep the aggressor in tone, and the threats to Russia and China are largely common”, – Vladimir Kolotov said on Sputnik radio.
