The possible date of the meeting of the Foreign Ministers in the “Norman format” became known

A meeting of foreign ministers of the countries participating in the summit in the “Norman format” to resolve the situation in Donbass may be held in September, said at a press conference German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas after a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmitry Kuleba in Kiev.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky earlier said that the meeting of advisers to the heads of the countries participating in the “Norman format” to resolve the situation in Donbass will be held on August 28.

“In order for us to meet in the “Norman format” in September at the level of foreign ministers, all involved parties understand that we need to meet not to repeat what was achieved at the Paris summit, but to talk about how these decisions are implemented”, – said Maas.

According to him, during the meeting the parties will discuss the “Steinmeier formula”, the issue of holding elections in Donbass, “how the transfer of powers at the border will take place”, as well as the powers of the military.
Dmitry Kuleba, in turn, specified that Ukraine “will never make concessions that will undermine the country’s territorial integrity” and create a “time bomb”.

“For us, it is absolutely key that we renew our territorial integrity and move forward as a European and Euro-Atlantic country”, –  he said.

At the same time, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commenting on the agreements on a new meeting announced by diplomats, stressed that so far in Moscow nothing is known about this.
At the first summit of the “Norman Quartet” countries in three years, which was held in Paris on December 9, 2019, the parties adopted a joint communiqué and agreed to meet in four months in Berlin to continue work on the settlement of the situation in Donbass. The communiqué emphasizes that the Minsk agreements remain the basis for work in the Norman format, and provides for the separation of forces by the end of March 2020 in three new locations in Donbass. The leaders also called for a ceasefire in Donbass by the end of the year.
