Protests against worsening living conditions and corruption of officials took place on Sunday in the Libyan cities of Tripoli and Misrata.
Street rally participants condemned the actions of the Government of National Accord, which resulted in a significant deterioration of the socio-economic situation and impoverishment of the general population.
In Tripoli, people with national flags in their hands gathered in Martyrs’ Square. “People want to overthrow the regime! Long live Libya! No corruption!” the crowd chanted. In some streets, protesters started burning tires. Groups of young people tried to climb over the walls of government buildings.
Law enforcement forces responded by firing into the air to disperse the rioters. The situation in the city remained tense.
