The Turkish government wants to turn another Christian shrine into a mosque

The Turkish government has targeted the Chora Monastery in Istanbul, where the Church of the Holy Savior is located. They want to turn it into a mosque.

This decision was published in a government newspaper.

“This is one of the most symbolic Byzantine monuments of the Comnenus era, known for its masterpiece frescoes, it turns into a mosque by the same procedures as the Cathedral of St. Sophia. It is being transferred to the Department of Religious Affairs and Byzantine frescoes are expected to be closed to make a mosque out of the church”, –  commented Greek public television ERT.
