Components of the Patriot air defense system arrived in Romania

The main components of the first of seven Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems, which will soon be adopted by the Romanian army, arrived in Romania. This is reported by the Ministry of Defense of Romania.

The equipment and related materials will be transported to the National Air Defense Training Center near Constanta, where tuning work will begin.

“Having received Patriot, long-range surface-to-air missile systems, the Romanian army will strengthen its defense and deterrence capabilities and will be able to provide better protection of the national airspace, which is part of NATO airspace,” the Romanian Defense Ministry believes.

The installation of the complex is planned to be completed in the second half of October. After that, the Romanian operators will receive training with the help of the US military, which will continue in 2021.

Romania acquired seven Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems in 2017.
