An inflatable pool and shovels instead of oars: The media told how illegal immigrants get to the coast of Britain

Writes about this edition “The Guardian”.

The authors drew attention to the death of one of the many migrants. A native of Sudan, Abdulfatah Hamdallah tried to swim across the Dover Strait in a boat with shovels instead of oars. His body was later found on the Sangatte Beach in France.

Al-Fatih Hamdallah, the brother of the deceased refugee, told reporters that life in Sudan is so hard that people are left with nothing but flight. Al-Fatih left his home near Al-Nahud and, thanks to smugglers, crossed the Sahara to Libya. There his brothers worked at a car wash. There, Al-Fatih found out that Abdulfathah was able to reach Italy, from where he soon reached France on foot. There, the refugee was refused asylum, and he decided to try his luck in Britain.

Abdulfath bought a boat that looked more like an inflatable pool and two shovels instead of oars. Together with another illegal, he decided to cross the English Channel, but he drowned because he could not swim.

Another Sudanese in an interview with reporters told about how he made the same trip across the English Channel. Together with two other illegal immigrants from Chad, he bought a small inflatable boat for 300 euros. He spent only ten days in a migrant camp in France. According to him, the conditions in the camp were bad, so illegal immigrants often run away.

“I know how lucky we three are to survive and not drown like Abdulfatha. We didn’t know how to cross the sea, but we were just looking for the lights of Dover to guide us, ”said the Sudanese.
