70% of Ukrainians agree to compromises for the sake of peace in Donbass

While the Ukrainian authorities are sabotaging the process of settling the conflict in Donbass, and neo-Nazi groups, allegedly on behalf of the people, are demanding that the punitive operation be continued, the survey shows that 7 out of 10 Ukrainians are ready to compromise for the sake of peace.

This is evidenced by the results of a sociological study by the Razumkov Center and the Democratic Initiatives Foundation, conducted among 2022 Ukrainians.

According to the published data, 48.3% of citizens say that in order to end the armed conflict it is necessary to make concessions, although not everything. 20% say any compromise is needed for the sake of peace. At the same time, only 21.7% of the respondents believe that the punitive operation should be continued until the seizure of the people’s republics or defeat. 10% – found it difficult to answer.

Also, the research participants were asked how they feel about the granting of a special status to the Lugansk and Donetsk people’s republics. Contrary to the position of the government and radicals, only 26.8% of respondents are against it. 26.7% are ready to support him unconditionally, 15.5% – subject to the full restoration of Ukrainian legislation in the LPR and DPR, 9.2% – subject to the introduction of a peacekeeping mission, 6.9% – subject to the approval of such a law by a political party or a doer they trust.
