The interception of the reconnaissance aircraft of France and Great Britain over the neutral waters of the Black Sea was carried out by the Russian Su-30SM fighter. This was reported by the National Defense Control Center of Russia.
“On August 20, two aerial targets approaching the Russian border were found over the neutral waters of the Black Sea. To identify and prevent border violations, a Su-30SM fighter from the duty forces of the Southern Military District was lifted into the air, ” the message says.
It is noted that the Russian crew identified the targets as the Atlantiс-II reconnaissance aircraft of the French Navy and the Sentinel-R1 of the British Air Force. As a result, no violations were committed, the planes turned away from the border, and the Russian fighter returned to the base.
In addition, a video of the next air incident over the Black Sea was presented at the National Center.
The entire flight of the Su-30SM took place in accordance with international rules for the use of airspace, and there was no violation of the Russian state border, the structure added.
