US considering new sanctions against Venezuela

The administration of US President Donald Trump is considering imposing additional sanctions against Venezuela to block remaining oil trade opportunities. Bloomberg reports.

The sanctions may affect deals with companies in Asia and Europe.

On January 21, 2019, mass protests began in Venezuela against the policy of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, which is in power. As a result, opposition leader Juan Guaido proclaimed himself interim president of the republic. A number of countries led by the United States recognized Guaido as the head of state. In turn, Russia, China, Turkey and a number of other countries supported Maduro.
