Representatives of Russia and the United States began consultations on nuclear weapons

A new round of consultations between Moscow and Washington on strategic stability and arms control began in Vienna today, August 17.

According to EADaily, the Russian delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, the American delegation by the President’s Special Representative for Arms Control Marshall Billingsley.

“An open professional dialogue is better than the propaganda rhetoric that has prevailed in this area for a long time,” said Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia’s permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, on Twitter.

Earlier, the special representative of the US President Marshall Billingsley, emphasizing the seriousness of the negotiations in Vienna, stated that the American side is sending to Austria “one of the highest-level delegations for the entire period of consultations.”
