In Latvia, a former Interior Ministry official was sentenced to 15 years in a fabricated case of “espionage in favor of Russia”

The news of the verdict caused a real shock among the representatives of the Russian community in Latvia.

As reported by EADaily, today, on August 17, the Latvian court passed a verdict against the former high-ranking official of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the state, Oleg Burak, accused of spying on Russia. Burak was fully found guilty and sentenced to 15 years in prison.

“Shock! Burak was found guilty on all counts and sentenced to 15 years in prison … “, writes journalist Alla Berezovskaya on the social network, indignant at such a harsh sentence in an obviously fabricated case.

According to public figure Alexander Gaponenko, the court succumbed to the political pressure of the authorities, or rather the special services, which were given the command to deal with the Russians at the first opportunity.

“This is the beginning of the hunt for all Russians who dare to exercise their right to freedom of conscience of speech and assembly. For Oleg Burak, this is a death sentence, ” Gaponenko said.
