NATO is not building up its military presence in Eastern Europe, but is closely monitoring the situation in Belarus. This is stated in the statement of the North Atlantic Alliance.
“There is no NATO buildup in the region. NATO’s multinational presence in the eastern part of the Alliance poses no threat to any country”, – said NATO spokesman Oana Lungescu.
According to her, “NATO is closely monitoring the situation in Belarus”.
“As the NATO Secretary General said, fundamental freedoms must be respected, including freedom of speech and the right of people to protest peacefully”, – she added.
