According to Vedomosti, citing the website of the Lithuanian president, Lithuanian and Estonian Presidents Gitanas Nauseda and Kersti Kaljulaid during the meeting agreed to work out a common position of the Baltic countries on the issue of refusing to import electricity from the Belarusian nuclear power plant.
“The leaders of the states agreed to jointly seek a unified position of the Baltic countries on the issue of refusing to buy electricity from BelNPP”, – the message says.
Having harshly criticized the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, the Baltic republics decided to obtain political concessions from the Belarusian authorities by blackmail. Despite the fact that the supply of Belarusian electricity was very beneficial to the economy of the Baltic States, which was already mired in debt to the EU.
