Ankara noted that “the UAE leadership has no right to negotiate with Israel on behalf of Palestine and make concessions on issues vital to Palestine and its people”.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey considers the decision of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to agree with Israel to normalize bilateral relations to be hypocritical. This was stated in a statement issued by the Turkish Foreign Ministry on Friday.
“The history and conscience of the peoples in the region will not forget and will never forgive this hypocritical act of the United Arab Emirates, which betrayed the Palestinian cause for its narrow interests and are trying to present it as a selfless step”, – the communiqué stresses.
The Foreign Ministry also noted that “the UAE leadership has no right to negotiate with Israel on behalf of Palestine and make concessions on issues vital for Palestine and its people.
Ankara also accused the UAE “of committing a secret US plan that <…> ignores the will of Palestine.
On Thursday, U.S. President Donald Trump said on his Twitter page that Israel and the UAE had reached agreements on the full normalization of bilateral relations. The same follows from the two countries’ joint statement. The agreements, in particular, imply that Israel suspends the decision to extend its sovereignty to the Jewish settlements in the West Bank, which is provided for by the American plan to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
So far, of the Arab States, only Egypt and Jordan have established diplomatic relations with Israel and have embassies. In recent years, the media have repeatedly published information about the rapprochement between Israel and the UAE and contacts between the two countries. UAE, despite the absence of a peace treaty with the Jewish state, has been actively developing commercial relations with Israel in recent years.
