US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo warned the Czech authorities against cooperation with Russia and China. He stated this in Prague at a press conference following talks with Czech Prime Minister Andrei Babis.
The reason for Pompeo’s warning was the plans of the Czech authorities to modernize the Dukovany nuclear power plant.
“We discussed the importance of choosing the right partner for the construction of a new power unit at the Dukovany NPP. Cooperation with companies from Russia and China actually undermines the national sovereignty of the Czech Republic, ” said the head of American diplomacy.
He said that if Moscow and Beijing try to put pressure on Prague, then the Czechs can hope for help from Washington.
