On the eve of a meeting of the Syrian Constitutional Committee in Geneva, the Syrian opposition is calling on the UN Security Council to replace Iranian forces and Hezbollah fighters in Syria with Russian troops.
This was stated by a member of the political committee of the opposition Syrian National Coalition, president of the Council of Syrian tribes Salim al-Muslit to RIA Novosti.
“We call on the UN Security Council to take a decision to completely expel Iranian forces and militias from Hezbollah in Syria and replace them with Russian forces in all cities that are occupied by the militias”, – he said.
Al-Muslit told RIA Novosti that the political committee of the Syrian National Coalition and the Syrian tribal council support that position, he said.
Al-Muslit made a statement two weeks before the planned meeting of the Syrian Constitutional Committee in Geneva. The meeting of the opposing Syrian sides, if the epidemiological situation allows, should take place on August 24.
