The U.S. administration intends to ban even U.S. citizens from entering the country if they are suspected of being infected with coronavirus.
According to “Reuters,” referring to their own sources, the relevant rules are already being considered in Washington.
The draft decree has not yet been finalized, but it is already clear that it gives the government the right to prohibit entry into the U.S. to people who “reasonably” can be considered carriers of COVID-19 and even other diseases. Restrictions may also apply to citizens.
During the months of the pandemic, the Donald Trump administration repeatedly adopted severe restrictions as part of its migration policy, fearing that refugees would cause coronavirus to spread. In particular, U.S. government officials in May were concerned that Mexicans with dual citizenship might come to the United States if Mexico was overwhelmed by a wave of the epidemic.
In practice, Mexicans had to protest at border crossings to prevent Americans from entering the country, given the coronavirus situation in the United States.
