The American think tank RAND presented a report that contains scenarios of a possible attack by the DPRK on South Korea using artillery.
In total, the document offers five options for the development of events:
– A five-minute shelling of a large South Korean industrial facility;
– minute shelling of the demilitarized zone;
– minute shelling of the center of Seoul;
– Hourly shelling of the demilitarized zone;
– Hourly shelling of Seoul.
As noted in the report, the number of victims in the implementation of the described scenarios ranges from 400 to 17 thousand people, and the number of victims – from 4.5 thousand to more than 200 thousand people.
The authors conclude that such disastrous consequences of the strike should force the United States and South Korea to try to avoid cyclical military provocations that could lead to such attacks.
