Two newest large hydrographic boats will join the Black Sea Fleet

Both vessels will be included in the Black Sea Fleet Hydrographic Service after the completion of state tests.

According to Interfax, the two newest large hydrographic boats “Vladimir Kozitsky” and “Boris Slobodnik” will become part of the Black Sea Fleet by the end of 2020, according to the Russian military.

“Until the end of this year, the Black Sea Fleet will include two new large hydrographic boats of project 23040G “Vladimir Kozitsky” and “Boris Slobodnik”, – the Black Sea Fleet said.

“Currently the boats are undergoing state tests in the Black Sea. During the tests, all life support systems, onboard equipment and running capabilities of boats are tested”. 

Both boats, with a length of 33 m, are designed for high-precision area survey of the bottom relief and survey of navigation hazards at depths of up to 400 m, survey of the bottom topography with a single-beam echo sounder at depths of up to two thousand meters.
