Sources report new US sanctions against Chinese Officials

The US administration is poised to impose sanctions on a number of Chinese statesmen after Beijing outlawed pro-Western extremists in Hong Kong.

This was announced on Friday, August 7, by the Bloomberg agency, citing its own sources.

According to media reports, the restrictions will be adopted in the near future. Two Washington officials said the sanctions would target Chinese Communist Party officials. It also became known that the head of the Hong Kong administration, Kerry Lam, will also be on the black list.

The sanctions will be imposed in line with a decree signed by President Donald Trump last month to pressure the Chinese government after Beijing introduced Hong Kong’s national security law.

The press services of the White House, State Department and the US Treasury did not comment on the information of the Bloomberg agency.
