The Kingdom will deploy a military field hospital in Beirut.
Moroccan authorities, at the behest of King Mohammed VI, sent urgent humanitarian and medical aid on Thursday to Lebanon, the capital of which had previously suffered a major explosion. This was reported by the news agency Maghreb Arabe Presse.
“On Thursday, Morocco began delivering urgent humanitarian and medical aid, at the behest of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, to the Lebanese Republic, which was greatly shocked by the devastating explosion. As part of this solidarity operation, four planes flew from the Mohammed V airport near Casablanca and the other two from the military base at Kenitra”, – the communiqué said.
It also stated that Morocco would “deploy a military field hospital in Beirut to provide emergency medical care to the population affected by the incident. The hospital will support 100 people, including 14 doctors of various specialties, nurses and support staff. It will also house an operating theatre, hospitalization, radiology and sterilization departments, laboratory and pharmacy.
In addition, Moroccan assistance includes a shipment of essential medicines, food (canned food, pulses, milk powder, butter, sugar), tents and blankets to accommodate victims. The Kingdom has also sent preventive medical equipment to Lebanon against coronavirus, including protective masks, gowns and containers of water-alcoholic gel.
Earlier, Mohammed VI sent a message of condolences to Lebanese President Michel Aoun. The monarch expressed solidarity with Lebanon on behalf of himself and the Moroccan people.
