China is confident that it is with the suggestion of Russia and the United States that the issue of nuclear weapons should be resolved. Chinese Ambassador to the United States Cui Tiankai said this when he spoke at the annual security forum at the Aspen Institute.
“The US and Russia are holding important negotiations on some of the existing agreements that are important to international strategic stability. We hope that these agreements will be renewed, as these countries have the largest nuclear arsenals in the world. It is Moscow and Washington that should play a leading role in international nuclear disarmament, ” he said.
The diplomat stressed that Beijing cannot be in the lead in this problem: China has few nuclear weapons.
In fact, the main role is assigned to Russia. It is Moscow that will have to bring stubborn Washington to the conversation and resolve the issue of disarmament.
