The US recognizes the need for cooperation with Russia in the Arctic

Despite American claims regarding the Arctic region, the United States is forced to reckon with Russia’s position in this area.

This statement was made by the representative of the US Department of State for the Arctic, James Dehart.

“Russia is an Arctic state and occupies most of the Arctic,” the official said.

In this regard, he stressed the importance of cooperation between Washington and Moscow, in particular, at the site of the Arctic Council. The United States is ready to continue working with Russia on Arctic issues, Desjart said. He also stressed that the US wants the northern region to remain peaceful.

As previously reported by News Front, Denmark is worried about the safety of the American base in Greenland, which could be destroyed by modern Russian weapons. The problem is that such a strike would create a serious breach in NATO’s missile defense shield.
