The US administration was forced to impose new anti-Iranian sanctions to thwart the Islamic Republic’s missile program.
This was stated by the head of the Center for the Study of Contemporary Iran, Rajab Safarov, in a commentary to the Interfax news agency.
As News Front reported earlier, the US State Department had previously announced new restrictions on Iran. With sanctions, the United States intended to block the import into the country of materials necessary for Iran’s nuclear and missile programs.
Safarov drew attention to the fact that information about the US sanctions appeared against the background of how Iran conducted major exercises in the Persian Gulf. In particular, the military practiced the delivery of missile strikes using the “capsule” method.
The technology involves placing the missile in a special capsule deep underground in a place that is best suited to strike enemy targets. Such a launch is extremely difficult for American satellites to detect.
“The degree of concern was such that the United States urgently imposed sanctions,” the expert noted, stressing that Iran’s new technology makes American military bases in the region vulnerable.
