The United States is expanding sanctions against Iran

Tehran’s nuclear, missile and military programmes pose a serious threat to international peace and security, said US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo.

“Today the State Department has allocated 22 items of materials used in connection with nuclear, military and ballistic programs. Those who deliberately pass these materials to Iran are now subject to sanctions”, –  reads the statement of the State Secretary, distributed by the State Department press service. The list includes names of metallurgical products, including aluminum alloys, several types of steel.

“Iranian nuclear, missile and military programs pose a serious threat to international peace and security”, –  said the head of the U.S. Foreign Ministry.

Besides, Pompeo reminded that “the construction company of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and many of its subsidiaries remain under the UN sanctions due to the fact that they were directly involved in the construction of the Fordow uranium enrichment facility”.

“As a result, <…> the transfer of certain materials, including graphite, raw materials or semi-finished metals, to or from Iran for use in Iran’s construction sector remains under sanctions”, –  the U.S. Secretary of State added.
