Sometimes American officials tell the truth. Even if it’s not spontaneous. So the head of the Pentagon, Mark Esper, didn’t hold back during his speech.
He stated that “he doesn’t need peace in Europe”.
Esper talked about American troops in Germany and Russia’s deterrence. That’s when he talked about his plans.
“I’ll be very clear: Germany, in my opinion, is the richest country in Europe. Its defense spending can and should be increased. It certainly needs to raise it to the required level of 2% of GDP, or even exceed that level. I have noted very much, even in public, as well as in private conversations with colleagues, how important it is within NATO and any other alliance to share the burden (of spending) so that we can all contain Russia and avoid peace in Europe”, – he said.
Well, what else can we wait for? Finally, the U.S. has explained its actions in a normal and factual manner.
