German MPs blame US senators for attacking EU and German security

The German parliament protested against two American senators. Liberal Free Democratic Party members wrote a letter to Ted Cruz and Jeanne Sheikhin.

It talks about the sanctions that the United States wants to impose on the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

“Because the position of colleagues in the FDP parliamentary faction is clear: we do not allow America to interfere in European affairs”, – said Martin Neumann, spokesman for the faction on energy issues.

He noted that companies from at least 12 European countries are participating in the project. The US sanctions are an attack on the investment, planning and legal security of Germany and the EU.

Neumann emphasized that now we are talking about “clear interference in the sovereign affairs of the European Union, especially given the fact that the construction of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline was approved in accordance with all EU rules”.
