Two American senators protested in the German parliament. Deputies of the Liberal Free Democratic Party wrote a letter to Ted Cruz and Jinn Sheikhin.
It refers to the sanctions that the United States wants to impose on the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline.
“Because the position of our colleagues in the FDP parliamentary faction is clear: we do not allow America to interfere in European affairs”, – said the faction’s official representative for energy issues, Martin Neumann.
He noted that companies from at least 12 European countries participate in the project. US sanctions are an attack on investment, planning and legal security of Germany and the EU.
Neumann stressed that it is now a question of “clear interference in the sovereign affairs of the European Union, especially given that the construction of the Nord Stream – 2 pipeline has been approved in accordance with all EU rules.
