State Department advises Europe not to provoke the United States by cooperation with Russia

The United States intends to continue to put pressure on Europe to “protect” it from Russian gas.

This statement was made by a representative of the American Embassy in Berlin, reports the Deutsche Welle TV channel.

The diplomat once again began to threaten the EU countries with the fact that Russia allegedly intends to use the dependence of the commonwealth on its gas. He assured that at the moment Washington is not considering new punitive measures against European states, advising not to provoke the States by participating in the implementation of the Nord Stream 2 project.

Back in December last year, the US Congress, along with the military budget, pushed through a package of sanctions. He touched upon the companies directly involved in the construction of Nord Stream 2. When the punitive measures took effect, the Swiss company Allseas, which provided pipelayers and supply vessels, withdrew from the project. Construction was suspended at the final stage.

The sanctions have now been expanded. They will allow Washington to blacklist companies and structures that provide insurance assistance in the construction of the gas pipeline or legal support for the project. Thus, even government organizations can be subject to restrictions.
