Berlin would have treated much better the idea of Russia’s return to the G7, if not for one fact: the idea was proposed by Donald Trump.
Political scientist Anatoly Wasserman told about this on Monday, July 27 in a comment to the “Regnum” agency.
As previously reported by News Front, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said that Berlin is against a return to the G8 format with the participation of the Russian Federation. At the same time, the diplomat admitted that without the Russian Federation it will not be possible to resolve the conflicts in Syria and Libya.
“The idea of Russia’s return to the self-proclaimed world government belongs to Donald Trump,” said Wasserman.
At the same time, the expert recalled that the administration of the 45th US president is unleashing a trade war with the European Union, hindering the supply of European goods to the American market. Naturally, this is not in the interests of the EU, which is why both Brussels and Berlin, in particular, prefer that Donald Trump lose in the November elections.
“They need the old world order, when the United States collected tribute from industrial products from all over the world and paid for it with various financial tricks. Thus, it turns out that the statement [Heiko Maas] is directed against Trump, ”said Wasserman.
